Haru Lev: A ReRoot Asia Fund 2023 Grantee 🌱
Animal rights advocate and passionate artist, Haru Lev, was on an extraordinary journey across South Korea to promote his book and share his music. His “Social Adjustment Refusal Manifesto - How to Live in the Age of Massacre” Book-Concert Tour aimed to spread the raw truth about animal exploitation and inspire change through literature and music.
Since 2014, Haru has been traveling around the world in a journey that offered him opportunities to be immersively involved in the animal rights movement. He visited several sanctuaries and actively participated in marches across Europe and North America.
This experience fueled Haru's commitment to animal liberation, which is the central theme of his latest book, "Social Adjustment Refusal Manifesto."
Unlike many animal rights books in South Korea that focus primarily on welfare, Haru's manifesto dives into the harsh realities of animal exploitation and its ties to broader social justice movements. He believes that it is crucial to foster a sense of solidarity and resistance against all forms of violence and discrimination.
As the name suggests, Haru’s project wasn’t only an ordinary book tour. He used his talent in art and music to convey his core message of resisting all forms of violence and discrimination. This book-concert tour surely sparked meaningful discussion between the audiences and touched their hearts with a sincere truth.
Many readers who were drawn to the book showed up at the event. While some might have the first impression of it as “just a traveling book," they have found themselves deeply engaged in animal rights issues while reading it.
